I am a mixed media artist, based in Northern Manhattan and Southern Vermont. My studio work investigates the intersection between graphic art and abstraction, often incorporating text and unconventional perspectives. I draw inspiration from the varied stages of my life, from my childhood in Rio de Janeiro, to my years performing Shakespeare in the parks of New York City, to my time assisting art directors at The New York Times, and the decades I have spent marching and protesting - for women’s rights and equality and justice for all. I employ a wide range of media (acrylic, encaustic wax, charcoal, paper and 3D elements), the choice of material determined by what best serves the idea I want to express.
